“I came to Rolfing having been told by my specialist consultant that the only option left for me was to wear morphine patches and undergo major invasive spinal surgery. I was in extreme pain and could not walk well as every time I put pressure on my left leg the pain shot through my whole leg. As a result of long standing scoliosis I was also stooped and twisted. I also have suffered pain in my right lower side of my back. I have had 3 sessions of facet joint steroid injections and numerous sessions of both standard physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. None of these procedures have had any effect on lessening the pain or improving my posture. After Rolfing sessions however, my leg pain has ceased, I am much straighter and I feel more energized. I do still experience occasional pain in my back but feel confident that ongoing Rolfing sessions to maintain this incredible improvement will mean that I do not need to have the surgery. I am so glad that I was told about Rolfing and that my practitioner is so empathetic, helpful and appears to be “working magic”.

My Rolfing experience with Keith consisted of all 10 sessions and from the outset it was obvious Keith is knowledgeable and experienced in Rolfing including several linked disciplines. Theres no doubt his abilities in other fields give a more rounded approach to his Rolfing work.

“When I came to see you for Rolfing I had no clear idea of what to expect. Ten short weeks later I can finally stand up straight – completely effortless. My muscles are no longer sore to the touch and there has been a lot of emotional clearing. It has been an incredible journey for my physical as well as for my emotional body. You have helped me to achieve more than I dared to hope for. Many thanks Keith for all your help and support.”

“InitialIy I thought Rolfing was expensive but after the first three treatments when there were noticable improvements I realised the fees were very good value”

“Keith treated my 2 day old Poitou donkey who was crippled with ‘knuckling fetlock syndrome’. 24 hours later he was on his feet. He had one follow up treatment and is now a healthy, happy 1 year old who wouldn’t be alive today if it hadn’t been for Rolfing”

Testimonial from Cindy (01.02.12) Following a train accident in my 20s, the birth of two children in my 30s, and unexpected widowhood in my early 40s, I had spent 17 years seeking external treatment, via osteopathy and chiropractic, for a repeatedly misaligned spine. These treatments always resolved the condition temporarily, but could never effect a permanent ‘cure’.
I discovered Rolfing at exactly the time that I began to want to find a way to manage my own spine – internally. All I knew was that vertebrae were being repeatedly locked out of alignment by muscles so hardened by tension that when felt through the skin they were indistinguishable from bone.
Through Keith’s treatment, however, I also came to discover the crucial role of the connective tissue in allowing the body to move freely. Keith has an extraordinary ability to discover the exact points of origin of misalignment – the places in the body where the fascia has become ‘stuck’ – and to apply just the right degree and length of pressure to release that stuckness, and thereby restore fluidity of movement.
I found both the treatment, and the (often very entertaining) exercises designed to help me learn, practise, and indeed finally take responsibility for, my own body-balanced relationship with gravity, to be highly successful and wonderfully liberating.
In addition to Keith’s technical expertise, he also has a seemingly inexhaustible and very gentle patience. The treatment was never physically painful – there was only the warm, healing ‘pain’ that signifies the release of long-held tension. From the first session, however, I began to realize the extent to which, as a life-long habit, I had used my body to store unwanted and unresolved difficult emotion. Each treatment session would be followed within a few days by a profound emotional release. It felt as if the unsticking of the fascia was allowing the release of the years of accreted emotion that had caused the fascia to rigidify in the first place.
These releases were sometimes painful, but never impossible, and were always invaluable, because each time I would feel lighter in my body and freer in my movements. As the sessions progressed, I began to realize just how much each negative emotion that I might experience would cause an automatic tensing of my body, especially in the fascia and muscles of my shoulders and neck. By the end of the 10-week treatment period, I was beginning to become adept at consciously releasing those feelings before they became physically stuck.
The nature of the process meant that Keith was privy to a great deal of it, for which I owe him an enormous debt of gratitude. In every session, he would allow me to talk as much as I needed to, about whatever I needed to, however difficult or embarrassing, and I never felt unheard or dismissed. Keith has an uncanny knack of saying a few appropriate wise words when necessary, and, above all, of nodding in the right places.
It has now been over six months since the completion of my treatment. I maintain my own well-being through yoga, awareness, and now the recent taking up of tai chi, (again thanks to Keith) which enables a wonderful conscious relationship with the body. I have felt no need for further Rolfing treatment, but would not hesitate to return to Keith for treatment if necessary.
I would completely recommend both Rolfing as a treatment, and Keith as a practitioner, for anyone wishing to work with their own bodies to release pain. It was a privilege, and a fascinating experience, to be treated by him.
